Memorial Medical Center Offers Free Hands-On Healthcare Program
Memorial Medical Center has launched a new program to help students and community members learn more about healthcare careers.
The free program, Hands-On Healthcare, meets at least monthly and is offered in partnership with Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The program is for high school and college students as well as adult community members.
Registration is now open for the second session, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial Physician Services, 3132 Old Jacksonville Road, Suite 140. The topic will be physical therapy.
The first session will be held later this month but has already filled up. Each session has a limit of 40 participants. Online registration opens 30 days prior to each session.
Other topics that will be covered in future sessions are nursing, medical education, laboratory, perioperative services, pharmacy and medical imaging. Sessions are scheduled through December 2018.
Applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. A confirmation email will include documents that require a parent's or guardian's signature if the participant is 18 years old or younger.
