July Breast Cancer Support Group Meeting Features Adult Coloring
The July meeting of the breast cancer support group at Memorial Medical Center will feature a creative session of adult coloring.
Naomi Wands, a registered nurse and community cancer education coordinator at Memorial Medical Center, will lead the session, which will explore the art of Zentangle, a type of “doodle” art using repetitive patterns and textures. Art supplies will be provided.
Coloring books for adults have been a popular trend for the last several years.
“Viewing, studying and creating art stimulates the brain in substantial ways,” Wands said. “It can improve mood, reduce stress and enhance happiness.”
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, in the Clarke Conference Room (E-118) in Memorial Medical Center, 701 N. First St., Springfield. Light refreshments will be served.
The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month except for December. For more information, call 217-757-7684.
